Modified Filing Procedures Address Security Concerns

The federal Judiciary is responding to the recent disclosure of wide-spread cybersecurity breaches of government computer systems with new security procedures to protect highly sensitive confidential documents. New procedures will not change current policies regarding public access to court records.

This release includes:

  • Creation of a new nature of suit code for civil cases related to the Defend Trade Secrets Act (of 2016), which will be effective October 1, 2020.
  • Solution for timing out of extra-large multi-district (MDL) cases caused when pulling up Party Tree during docketing due to the large number of parties.
  • Solution for intermittent issues when using Pay.gov to pay for fees collected through CM/ECF docketing events that has led to duplicate payments in some cases.
